Locating and Purchasing Products

How do I find products on this site?

By using the browse by subject and search features built in to this site, you'll find that "just-right" product.

The browse by subject method consists of subject areas organized by broad categories. A quick glance at this page will expose you to every topic covered by Signal Education Media's products. Clicking on one of these subject areas will lead to a list of products, organized by grade level (youngest to oldest) for that subject. If can't find exactly what you're looking for, try searching.

The search method allows you to enter a keyword or phrase that identifies the product you're seeking. You can either search for products by keyword, or if you know the exact product name, by title. Can't see video?

If you are unable to see any video previews, you might not have the QuickTime software plugin installed for your browser. Additionally, if you are trying to watch Signal Education Media streaming video previews while at work, your computer's connection to the Internet may be through a "firewall", a network security feature that may prevent you from watching streaming video shows with the company's network.

Why does the video occasionally stop?

There are several reasons why this may occur. The most important factor in insuring a high quality video playback is the speed of the computer and the connection to the Internet. If the show stops or pauses, it is most likely due to high traffic or net congestion on the Internet, or due to a slower modem connection.

CD-ROM Information and Assistance

Video and audio clips don't play on the CD-ROM

This is usually the result of improperly installed or incorrect versions of the software QuickTime. QuickTime is a standard in digital video for computers, both Macintosh and PC. In order for the video and audio files to play correctly, be sure to have installed the latest version of Apple's QuickTime (at least version 4.0). If your CD-ROM title requires QuickTime, an installer has been included on the disk in the "Installers" folder. Simply run the installation program and follow the directions. You may also get the latest version of QuickTime from the Apple web site at www.apple.com/quicktime. The basic version of QuickTime is free. You will not need to purchase QuickTime for the CD-ROM to work properly.

Video and audio clips play poorly

Video, audio and animations make Signal Education Media CD-ROMs engaging and effective teaching tools, however you must have the proper system resources available on the computer you are attempting to run the software from. Each CD-ROM title has a list of minimum requirements. Ensure each computer running the program meets minimum requirements.

Errors on start up - Macintosh

If your are experiencing problems starting this program on a Macintosh system, it may be necessary to turn your virtual memory on or off. You may also be experiencing conflict problems with extensions. It may be necessary to restart your computer with extensions turned off.

Errors on start up - Windows

If your are experiencing problems starting this program on window's system, be sure that the computer meets the minimum requirements to run the software. Many software programs change the monitor resolution of computer systems when launching. The process of switching the monitor resolution can sometimes result in start up problems. As a work around, change your monitor settings (Start : Control Panel : Monitors : Settings) to reflect a 640 x 480 screen resolution, then re-launch the software.

Registration Problems

All CD-ROMs may be run three (3) times for evaluation purposes per computer. If you need to run the program again, you can get another 3 program launches by placing the CD-ROM in another computer.
